Description:

Olmsted Products control systems can provide overall control and management of our valve systems based upon an operational and control philosophy statement provided by the customer. Our systems can include enhanced redundancy. Duplicate wiring, I/O and functionality can be provided from both primary and secondary PLC processors. The primary PLC processor will handle all required I/O for the system.

The secondary PLC processor will be an exact duplicate of the wiring and I/O module configuration of the primary processor. Any failure associated with the primary processor or associated I/O modules within that processor rack will result in an immediate switch to the secondary processor and its associated duplicate I/O modules and programming.

Communications modules are also included to allow the interchange of data from the operating PLC to any remote PLC as required by the customer. Communication within the PLC and I/O modules can be completed with profibus or Ethernet communication modules.

PID control/amplifier cards are used to amplify and process the analog command and feedback signal to/from each valve.

The complete control system is assembled in a suitably rated enclosure and would include a panel mount HMI.

Each individual processor can be contained in the enclosure, or if the customer prefers we can locate the primary and secondary processors in different areas and have them linked together by a redundant ring. In the event that the primary processor goes down due to a fire on the vessel for example, the secondary processor in the other location will take control of the system. The HMI provides a local interface to the system for operation and maintenance. This HMI will display alarms and other operating system information as required.
